The area is a center of Buddhism, particularly the temple of Yakushi Nyorai, known for its healing powers and its highly efficacious and popular temple, Hōsen-ji. Sixty years ago, Yakushi Kiln's ceramic works, blessed by the local efficacious Buddha, gradually gained international recognition and became widely popular. Yakushi Kiln creates a variety of ceramic products that soothe the soul and bring joy. Their lucky zodiac animal series, Hina dolls, May dolls, and the most popular Maneki-neko (beckoning cat) series showcase the Japanese heart and spirit in the most beautiful things. Love for nature and coexistence with it are the purest and most genuine feelings for the Japanese. Yakushi Kiln's Maneki-neko, through the blessings of Yakushi Nyorai for health and longevity, also brings good fortune and wealth.
