Kiyomizu-yaki introduction
"Kyo-yaki"is a style of tea ceremony that originated in the early Edo period.
Kyoto pottery has primarily spread from the foothills of Higashiyama. On the other hand,"Kiyomizu-yaki"refers to pottery made at the entrance to Kiyomizu-dera Temple on Gojo-zaka. Currently, all pottery made in Kyoto is called"Kyo-yaki/Kiyomizu-yaki".
This type of glaze, known as crystalline glaze, is characterized by the precipitation of crystals during the melting and cooling process. Beautiful flower-shaped crystalline vessels appear as if flowers have bloomed on their surface.Most importantly, the crystals grew larger and took on various shapes.Furthermore, no two designs can be made the same; each piece is a unique work of art.
